EXERCISING

Book-2: Guide to Total Wellness -1.0

“We do not stop exercising because we grow old – we grow old because we stop exercising.” – Dr. Kenneth Cooper.

“Exercise is the most potent and underutilized anti-depressant and it is FREE!” – Anon

Be clear on what the aim of your exercising is and how much exercise you really need to do to attain to that aim. Are you exercising for weight control, or muscle gain, or improving sports performance, or injury management, or stress management, or for just general health and fitness appropriate for your age and daily needs? Anything more than what is the minimum required to attain to that goal is just wasted effort. A combination of diet and exercise as you deem fit is the best way to attain your aim.

“People who seek to lose weight for extrinsic reasons, to slim down for a wedding or to look better at a class reunion, often reach their goals. And then they gain the weight back as soon as the target event ends.

Mean while, people who pursue more intrinsic goals – to get fit in order to feel good or to stay healthy for their family – make slow progress at first, but achieve significantly better results in the long term” – Daniel H. Pink
