Astaxanthin:

Astaxanthin is part of the cartenoid family and is what gives shellfish and flamingos their red colour. Molecular Nutrition and Food Research reports in 2011, that Astaxanthin, extracted from marine algae, is a very potent anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory substance with wide systemic health benefits from radiation protection, to eye (Cataract, ARMD and Glaucoma), brain, lung and heart health. It also helps against cancers, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, gastrointestinal diseases, gastric ulcers, liver diseases, and male infertility, induced auto renal failure and taken regularly also protects against strokes. It also helps against dementia, arthritis and other chronic inflammatory diseases.

Astaxanthin is 14 times stronger as an anti-oxidant that Vit-E and at least an order of magnitude more effective than other anti­oxidants. Unlike other anti-oxidants, Astaxanthin can handle multiple free radicals simultaneously. It is 65 times more potent than Vit-C and 54 times more powerful than beta carotene. Astaxanthin protects both water and fat soluble parts of the cell. This helps in slowing down the ageing process. It is very beneficial for skin health.

It is best taken as a supplement, usually 4 mg to a maximum of 12 mg daily, with a Tbsp of healthy fat, butter, coconut oil or ghee, to optimize absorption. It is deemed safe at even 500 mg per day. The effects will be seen in 2 to 3 months.

Maintaining good Hormonal levels:

What Ferriss calls the – “Darwins Rule” – eat for optimal fertility and everything else falls into place.

  1. Fermented cod liver oil or Krill oil (rich in vit-A, D, E and K and Omega-3 fatty acids) + vitamin K2 and/or Astaxanthin with rich yellow butter fat from grass fed cows – 2 capsules on waking and 2 before bed.
  2. *Vitamin D3 – 3000 to 5000 IU upon waking and again before Until you reach blood levels of 55 ng/mL or for 4 weeks. As excess vitamin D is not good for you, get tested every three months. Do not exceed 55 ng / ml. (See – Below).
  3. Brazil nuts – for *selenium (3-nuts) and raw almond (6 nuts) soaked overnight and skin removed for *vitamin-E, upon waking and again before bed. This is only if you are deficient in Selenium and vitamin-E, otherwise not required.
  4. Use deep yellow butter from grass fed cows – rich butter fat or Ghee in your meals.
  5. Sauerkraut, Kimchee and Japanese Nato and other such lacto fermented foods.

Eating the right fats improves the sex hormone levels in your body as these are produced from the cholesterol in your body.

Belly fat cells produce estrogen in men and sends their testosterone levels plunging.

Milk made from Almond, Cashew, Coconut and Hemp are good non-dairy source of fat. Do not use sweeteners.
