Conclusion:
Avoid sugar, carbs and most vegetable oils. Vegetable oils have more Omega-6 fats, for example soy bean oil is 50 percent linoleic acid, an inflammatory Omega-6 fat.
It is only in the context of low levels of Omega-3 fats, too little fibre and high levels of carbohydrates that saturated fats become problematic, stimulating the production of excess AA especially from vegetable sources, which triggers the production of ‘bad’ eicosonoids that causes inflammation. Hence you should eat more butter, ghee, virgin coconut oil, fish, chicken, eggs and meat.
Omega-3 promotes the production of ‘good’ eicosanoids that have an anti-inflammatory effect.
MCT from coconut oils was found to be therapeutic in reversing liver damage. Cutting the carbs and boosting saturated fats may even help reduce non-alcoholic fatty liver.
The biggest source of abnormal cholesterol is not fat at all, but sugar, and even worse fructose, especially when it is consumed as juice without the fibre in the whole fruit. When you reduce your carb and eliminate sugar and fructose intake, you do not have to worry about cholesterol.
Today industrial farming practices have led farmers to switch the feed to their animals and poultry from grass to corn and cereal grains and hence the Omega-6 fats comprise a significant portion of ‘animal’ fat. Such meat also contains hormones, antibiotics and pesticides. You are not only what you eat, but more what your food eats. Processed meats are even worse for your health and so just avoid them. Also be careful of the sources of your meat.
Omega-6 fats prevent the conversion of plant-based Omega-3 fats (ALA) into the active forms of Omega-3’s (EPA/DHA) in the body by 40 percent. That means that even if you eat Omega-3 fats, in the presence of excess Omega-6 fats, the Omega-3 fats don’t work as well.
Humans are amazingly adaptable and can and do adapt to a variety of diets. So we each need to base our food and lifestyle choices on how our body responds to what we eat. Listen to your body, even if it takes observation and time, it will tell you what is best for you.
