Afterword

From childhood we have all been told the story of the slow Tortoise and the sleepy Hare and were taught that ‘Slow and Steady’ wins the race, and that stuck in our minds, influencing our thinking, not allowing us to ask-what about the ‘Fast and Steady’, shouldn’t it be winning the race?

No one was told the rest of the story – The Hare challenged the Tortoise to a re-race, and this time won handsomely, as expected.

The Tortoise was unhappy with the result and after some thinking, challenged the Hare to another race, but this time on a track of its choosing. The Hare, now full of confidence agreed and the both took- off from the start-line.

As again expected, the Hare shot ahead till it reached a river, with the Finish line across the other bank. The Hare came to a stop unable to swim, while the Tortoise slowly plodded up, swam over and crossed the Finish line, winning the race.

WAIT… The story is not over yet!

Both the Hare and Tortoise then analysed the matter and concluded that if they worked together as a TEAM, they would be unbeatable. The Hare carrying the Tortoise on land and the Tortoise carrying the Hare over water.

That, my friends, is the lesson to be learnt. TEAMWORK, utilizing the strengths of all in the Team, to overcome whatever obstacles you may encounter, makes your Team the WINNER!

UBUNTU – a South-African / Zulu word, that incorporates essential human virtues: Compassion and Humanity, incorporated in the saying; ‘I am because We are!’.

Also remember our mind-set that sees the world as ‘VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM” – the World is One family.

JAI BHARAT! – JAI HIND!
