Key Concepts
- Terrorists bound on Suicide missions can strike anywhere in a Democratic Country, where freedom of movement is granted to everyone. This is more so when they are trained and supported by Foreign States from which we can get little or no Intelligence warnings.
- Attacks on soft and especially prominent unprotected targets are easy for the Terrorists.
- Managing to prolong the operation ensures even greater Media coverage and allows for greater damage to be caused. (See “Terrorists and Media’’ at www. ideaz4india.in).
- Repetitive coverage of an ‘on-going’ operation escalates the terror and impact of the operation.
- We may not have been able to prevent the attack as the really informative bits of Intelligence were lost in the noise and mass of other data, but we certainly could have been prepared to react faster and more effectively. We should learn from our immune system, many times it may not know of the exact nature and timing of the treat it faces, but it ever ready to react to any threat in tried out ways and learn modify them to react to new threats.
