Conclusion

Education starts with literacy and goes way beyond, to teach how to make a satisfactory living, to function adequately in todays, and even tomorrow’s, society even for a Class-VIII drop out, and to participate meaningfully in social, political and economic matters as necessary, and to be mindful of each other.

Also, teach children to recognize in themselves their innate worth and goodness, by helping them to see within themselves the great power and potential they have. Teach them, integrity, resourcefulness, self-discipline, the ‘win-win’ way of life, the concept of ‘Ubuntu / Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (I am because we are / The world is one family) – the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity.’ Finally to also, take time to ‘sharpen the axe’-to never stop growing and learning.

Neither cost nor connectivity has been found to be a matter of concern where such programmes have been rolled out. It is more the commitment of the Government as demanded by the Parents that counts: where it is enthusiastic the programme will succeed.
